Zarzuelas and tragicomedies

The Philippines needs to modernize its fiscal management and a number of many other systems, including elections.

Without checks and balances, there is no guaranty that the country will not suffer so much more in the years to come. The damage could become irreparable.

At this time, there are zarzuelas and other scripted tragic comedias going on. With the government's office of financial responsibility and accountability presenting a one-sided view of corruption and graft, selected persons are painted to be crooks and thieves. Conveniently excluded are the bigger crooks and bigger thieves now laughing in the sidelines.

Photo below shows protesters campaigning for the abolition of the discretionary fund of politicians.
